Infrastructure Development

The Amazing Grace orphanage in Southern Sudan had insufficient infrastructure to accommodate children without parents from the country’s civil war.  Several of our partnering firms contributed towards building construction materials and Enviro-Stewards donated a water treatment unit to provide safe drinking water.

Our president and draftsman traveled to Sudan (January 2004) to set up a drinking water system and to help construct the dormitories, washrooms and bathing facilities.  Our President returned in 2006 to expand the orphanage and again in 2007 to teach a local non government organization how to construct affordable drinking water treatment systems.  (More)

Sustainable Development

The Las Lajas agricultural cooperative near Sonsonate, El Salvador produces coffee and dairy products.  It provides employment for 3,000 people in three villages.  Enviro-Stewards is helping the cooperative to design and implement sustainable development practices.  (More)

Disaster Relief and Development

Major earthquakes struck El Salvador on January 13, 2001 and February 13, 2001.  Due to the fragility of Adobe (mud brick) homes, over 1.5 million people were left homeless, hundreds were killed and thousands were injured.  Enviro-Stewards contributed funds towards building materials and staff donated their time to help construct 21 earthquake resistant homes on the Las Lajas Cooperative (March 2001) and 7 homes in San Vicente (March 2002).  (More)

Engineers Without Borders

A group of present and former students from the University of Waterloo designed facilities to remove arsenic from drinking and irrigation water in Molinos, Chile.  Enviro-Stewards contributed towards the group’s expenses for a site visit in March 2002.  Our president is also served as the designated Professional Engineer for the group.
