Reduce sewer loading and toxic use while increasing yield and revenue.
Enviro-Stewards’ approach is unlike that of most consultants. Instead of designing water and air treatment facilities to destroy lost product and ingredients, we first examine the root cause in order to develop innovative and sustainable solutions to reduce loadings. We then design and implement solutions to economically treat the remainder.
Rather than focusing on ways to manage your wastewater needs by recommending expensive equipment to destroy lost resources and ingredients, we will develop solutions to reduce or eliminate the need for wastewater treatment in the first place.
Enviro-Stewards takes a holistic approach and conducts a full-spectrum assessment and implementation focused on prevention, resource conservation, and improving your bottom line.
Our preventative approach will result in reduced sewer loading during the manufacturing process and will ensure that more ingredients and finished goods leave the line as saleable product and not disposed of in wastewater.
We develop and implement solutions to achieve substantial wastewater treatment reduction with an average payback of less than 1 year.
Wastewater Success story
Fruition Fruit & Fills, a subsidiary of Tim Hortons, operates a manufacturing plant in Oakville, Ontario. The facility manufactures and exports a wide range of products for the baking, confectionary, and dairy industries across the globe. Fruition was seeking a solution to meet their effluent discharge responsibilities.
A conventional approach would have addressed the environmental concern by constructing a large biological treatment plant. This would impose major economic and social burdens (loss of commodity ingredients) on the business — this was not a route they wanted to take.
Enviro-Stewards’ holistic assessment offered a preventative approach, with solutions that resulted in remarkable reductions and savings. After implementation, the facility was able to avoid the need for a treatment system altogether and:
- Reduce loading to sewer by 80%
- Reduce waste sent to landfill by 70%
- Reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30%
This is equivalent to saving:
- Electricity to power 75 homes
- Natural gas to heat 59 homes
- Waste to fill 43 garbage trucks
- Water to fill 15 Olympic sized swimming pools
In addition, the conservation measures are saving the facility approximately $490,000/yr with a payback period of 5 months. The project also won a National Sustainability Award.
Enviro-Stewards is dedicated to the development of innovative solutions to achieve long-term resource and financial sustainability for businesses.
Stop paying to treat wasted resources.
