Relief and Development Major earthquakes struck El Salvador on January 13, 2001 and February 13, 2001. Due to the fragility of Adobe (mud brick) homes, over 1.5 million people were left homeless, hundreds were killed and thousands were injured. Enviro-Stewards contributed funds towards building materials and staff donated their time to help construct 21 earthquake resistant homes on the Las Lajas Cooperative (March 2001) and 7 homes in San Vicente (March 2002).
