Winery & Brewery Pollution Prevention

Enviro-Stewards Inc. has completed Pollution Prevention (P2), Energy Efficiency (E2), Environmental Compliance and Sustainable Development work at large, medium and estate wineries in Ontario, Nova Scotia and British Columbia. In order to increase the proportion of wineries engaged in this work, Environment Canada retained Enviro-Stewards to develop a pollution prevention guide and workshop.

The Wine Council of Ontario promoted and co-sponsored a workshop with Environment Canada on November 26, 2004. The workshop was hosted by the Cool Climate and Oenology Institute (CCOVI) located at Brock University. The wine council estimates that attendees at the workshop represented more than 95% of Ontario's wine production.

January 2006 Enviro-Stewards will be presenting the workshop in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick with Atlantic Winery & Brewery Case Studies.

Results of the winery & brewer pollution prevention project were presented at the Canadian Pollution Prevention Roundtable (CPPR) in Victoria, British Columbia June 1 & 2, 2005. Proceedings are available online at:
